Japanese artist Ikeda Manabu's drawings are remarkable for their extreme detail, and more so for the fact that he uses only a small acrylic pen in their execution. His simultaneous grasp of the micro and macro scales, a masterful technique where his vivid subconscious guides his hand, has garnered international acclaim. This book provides a comprehensive survey of Ikeda's oeuvre over the past 20 years by way of 100 works selected by the artist. Its focus is a new work, Rebirth, which he completed over three years as artist-in-residence at the Chazen Museum of Art in Wisconsin, and is his largest to date. Other monumental works are also included, as well as smaller drawings.
