"Indonesia Art World: Dr. Melani Setiawan's Archive (1977-2022)" is a book documenting the development of Indonesian art history through the photo archive of Dr. Melani Setiawan, an ultrasound specialist who has documented various art events since 1970. Started from a personal habit of recording various moments in her life to help her remember, unknowingly, her habit of documenting grew when she became acquainted with the Indonesian art world. Her photo archive, now numbering over 100,000 photos, chronicles various events and achievements of Indonesian artists, curators, and art workers both at home and abroad. 

The photographs are summarized and accompanied by captions and commentary from the artists, as well as explanatory text about the art events. Sketches and notes from the artists also serve as illustrations. 

Consisting of three volumes, this book showcases the different documentation processes she employs, highlighting developments in the medium of photography itself. Often referred to as the "Mother of Indonesian Artists," Dr. Melani Setiawan and her unique position in the realm and history of Indonesian art are explored from various perspectives in essays written by Jim Supangkat, Agus Dermawan T., Christine Cocca, and Hendro Wiyanto.
